Should I Go To IPTS?IPTS is BETTER than IPTA?

Hey guys, I have prob choosing between Monash university Malaysia campus and IPTA. Because at first I wanna go to US straight after I finished my diploma course in my college but then my results came out and its just average 3.38cgpa. My dad only wants me to go to US by full scholarship. like the mara scholarship (as im a bumi) or The financial aids given by the US universities but prob is now i don't qualify for the mara scholarship as they don;t sponsor my course and my cgpa also dont qualify (they wont support they say), while the US uni financial aid are usually not enough except for the selective ones, I don't have a very strong academic background, just average so I dont wanna apply now as it will take months to wait and I have very slim chance. Now I plan to change course to finance/economics as im interested in them and they are sponsored by most of the big scholarships in malaysia, im aiming to score for some of them scholarships. And since i will be starting first year for these new courses then I plan to try and excel in the first year and try to apply to US universities and see which uni and what kind of financial aid I can get.

So my choice now is either to go Monash University in Malaysia cuz theres the mara convertible loan for it as im bumiputra or IPTA. the reason why there is IPTA in that option is because first if I join Monash malaysia under that mara loan, if I wanna transfer overseas during my time there, Mara will terminate the loan and I would have to pay it back either 6-12 months after that or can ask for a "penangguhan" which is paid when I work later. So the debt would be RM30000-40000 if I transfer to US after my first year and my dad doesn't allow me to do that as thats quite a lot of debt he says and I also have another RM16000 debt from the loan I used for my diploma course.

As for IPTA, fees would be cheap and I would have the freedom to transfer whenever I want if I get scholarships or anything, no prob, but the prob with IPTA is that, If I go to IPTA, and I am not successful in the US universities application, then I would be stuck in IPTA and get an IPTA degree, if they give me nice ipta like um,ukm, upm, usm not bad also but then if they give me those others, man...but i still prefer the monash degree if im gonna study the whole course here...my dad thinks the monash degree is better also plus monash is very near to my house, i live in kelana jaya, monash is in sunway. Prob with monash is that I can't transfer anywhere and would be stuck there for 3 years so i'll miss some chance to go to US early and can only apply to US universities for masters after I finish degree , not just that but since monash is like the most expensive uni in malaysia, so since the mara loan is a convertible one, if I get the 3.5cgpa and above i would not need to pay back, but if i get 3.0- 3.4 I would need to pay back 10%....yeah 10% might sound like a small amount but remember its the 10% for the most expensive uni fee in msia! and if I get lower than that it will be worst. One thing is because the staff told us that the 60% score at sunway university college is like the 50% score at monash. me and my dad not sure what kind of high standard is high standard at monash. Of course, I can just say "sure can score one lah", but then if it really hits me, it will be bad. Results on whether I get the mara loan or not will only be released in august - september like that. what do you guys think.

Monash
advantages
-get mara convertible loan - no need pay back if get 3.5
-get allowances that I have no use of (since I live nearby....so i can use that to buy anything i want lol).
-very near to my house (no wasting petrol or need to live in hostel)
-very nice place and nice facilities
-will get a Monash Uni degree when i graduate, which is nice as monash has a bit of that overseas uni prestigious quality
-they have the course that i want exactly as i want it which is something interesting for me if i wanna study the whole course locally here.
-i really like monash

disadvantages
-if dont get good results must pay and monash has expensive fees
-don't get to go to overseas unis until i graduate
-I'll be joining monash this july, thing is mara only give the mara convertible loan "mengikut peruntukan semasa" and i'll only know the results of my mara loan application in august-september, so if change policy as in budget not enough then theres a chance that I might not get the loan and u guys know that June/july month is also when the UPU results will come out right.*headache*
-Mara also only lets me choose only either IPTA or monash, have to reject the others if choose the other, theres a chance that if I take monash and reject ipta then suddenly i dont get the loan so i can't go to monash either. But anything also, I'll have to wait til ipta results come out before i make my decision to which uni to enter.
-fees Rm27000 per year (which is RM80000+ for 3 years course)

IPTA
advantages
-Can continue my undergraduate US uni transfer application that had been stuck halfway lately
-freedom to transfer anywhere
-If i get to transfer then I can go to the US earlier
-big campuses new environment farther from my house (except for UM)
-very little debt if anything happens
-fees Rm17000 for whole course

disadvantages
-hard to transfer to another course if i want to as ipta are a little more strict in transferring courses unless u have an inside man and i want to change course. Also If i'm stuck with my current course... i will have very little aid to go overseas as well.
-language used for course - some ipta teach courses in malay, prob with this is that according to my fren in ipta, his econs course is taught in malay but the textbooks and sources are all in english so have to translate things when doing assignment which is abit of a hassle for me especially since im new to the course.
-the courses some are not how I want them to be
-most of them ipta unis are further from my house, except for UM which I have very very small chance of getting in as it doesnt even offer my original course so i had to simply apply for business admin to apply for UM
-will be stuck with an ipta degree, real bad if I get those not prestigious type of iptas.
-other than UM, its kinda far
-big campus but can be very boring

  1. so,does the previous cgpa mattered in applying for MARA loan? Or any bumiputra can have the MARA loan no matter what?
